Mould Making and Casting Workshop >

Haldane Building

Facilities covering a wide range of mould making and casting techniques for plaster and silicone casting.

Opening Hours:
Monday - Friday, 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 6.30pm

Access is only granted following an induction sessions. Inductions are arranged as a matter of course for Sculpture and Environmental Art students, MLitt Sculpture and MFA, other programs will need to complete the project proposal process. Induction covers the protocol for accessing the workshop as well as the basics of working with materials.

Due to the complex nature of these processes, students are asked to work directly with a member of staff for their first time working on a process. Much of the on-going work is then supervised one to one.

The workshop is set up for general use by Sculpture and Environmental Art, MFA and MLitt Fine Art Practice (Sculpture pathway) students. Access can be arranged for students studying Architecture, Product Design, Product Design Engineering and Interior Design by arrangement with workshop staff and the completion of a project proposal form.

Please bear in mind that the workshop capacity is 8 and is in high demand. You may be asked to come back later if the workshop is full. Technical staff will work with you to try to timetable your work within the available space.

Materials used must be paid for before use and can be purchased from staff between 10-10.30 each morning.
