Mackintosh Building Centenary

Mackintosh Building Centenary Celebrations (2009-2010) >

Throughout 2009-2010 The Glasgow School of Art hosted a range of events to celebrate 100 years since the completion of its world famous Mackintosh Building, (designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and opened in December 1909). The programme of events started with an exhibition The Flower and the Green Leaf: Glasgow School of Art in the Early Twentieth Century (27 November 2009 - 06 Febuary 2010) which explored life in the Mackintosh Building 100 years ago, showcasing a variety of work by students and staff, and including many pieces from the Archives and Collections' holdings. A book was also produced to accompany this exhibition, edited by Ray Mckenzie. The year also saw the launch of an online timeline The Living Archive which traces the School's activities over the last century. More information can be found here.
