Mackintosh Conservation & Access Project seminar (2011) >

In May 2011 the Archives and Collections Centre hosted a successful one-day seminar in partnership with ICON-SG (the Institute of Conservation's Scotland Group). The seminar brought together (for the first time) the extensive network of specialist object and building conservators employed by GSA during its recent Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project.

The presentations covered a wide range of topics from stonework repairs and the treatment of original timber surfaces in the Mackintosh Library to the conservation of individual watercolours, textiles and furniture, and the cleaning and re-packaging of the GSA archive.

Following the illustrated presentations, delegates were given the opportunity to tour the Mackintosh Building and to view the 'in-situ' conservation work and the newly completed ACC stores and exhibition galleries.
