Important Information for Staff and Students

Mackintosh Building Fire
Over the past few hours, under the worst of circumstances the strength of community within the GSA has come to the fore.

Over the next few days we will be assessing the situation, the wider impact and how we move forward.  Please be aware that we are working hard in the background and will ensure that we send more information to you as soon as possible, and hope to be able to send more information out to you tomorrow.  For the time being, in terms of immediate information:

• All GSA buildings (including the Richmond, JD Kelly, Barnes etc) will close with immediate effect until Monday 26 May.  We will reassess the situation on Sunday and issue further updates via the GSA website and social media.  Staff and students should monitor GSA on Twitter @GSofA and the GSA website.

• Students should not concern themselves about finishing work at this stage.  Further information on assessment, degree show and graduation will be issued as soon as possible.

• We appreciate that students and staff have left personal belongings within GSA buildings when they evacuated.  These cannot be recovered at the present time, but as soon as possible arrangements will be made for any items to be collected.

To support both students and staff, from 10am tomorrow (Saturday 24 May) 30 Hill Street will be open for anyone requiring counselling and support.  Students and staff can either drop in or phone 0141 353 4787 to speak with someone.

The impact of the Mackintosh Building fire on students, staff, the city and the wider creative community cannot be underestimated and this is a complex and rapidly changing situation.  Students and staff should check their email, the GSA website and social media for updates as they happen.
