Access to the main wood workshop and assembly area will be granted following completion of a basic workshop induction. Inductions are arranged via each programme at the start of your studies. Inductions are arranged as a matter of course to students from Sculpture and Environmental Art, MLitt Sculpture, MFA, Mackintosh School of Architecture, Product Design and Product Design Engineering. Access by other programmes can be requested using the Project Proposal system.  Basic inductions last around 3 hours and cover safe working in the workshop, operation of key machinery, hand tools and power tools.

Additional inductions are run through the year if required usually mid semester and at the start of semester 2.  Additional and refresher training can be provided on specific techniques/equipment on request.

A separate metal workshop induction will be provided arranged via each programme as above.

Demand for the 3D Making workshop is extremely high. With a capacity of 40 users at a time it can fill up quickly. Please bear this in mind when planning your project to ensure you will have enough time to complete all work.

Stock material can be requested using a Cut List form; material is usually made available next day, although some materials will need to be ordered in especially. All material used is recorded on a cut list and you will receive an email bill monthly. Bills should be paid online using the GSA Webpay system. Up to date price lists will be displayed in the workshop.
