The course is run over 24 weeks offering over 350 hours of tuition, from August to February each year. The course is studio based, 2.5 days per week, although it is expected that students will continue to work outside class time on specific briefs and self-motivated study.
Whilst the course is broad-based and flexible in content, it's structure is designed to assist students in the selection of a specialist area of study. The course provides a platform for feedback and review of work, and advice on selection and presentation of work for inclusion in portfolio for application.
The course is project based and critique driven, with drawing as a foundation. Projects vary in length, ranging from one-day workshops to projects that run over 2 - 4 weeks. A sketchbook project is ongoing from the beginning to the end of the course to encourage self-motivated work, development, investigation and exploration of ideas and working methods.
The course is designed to help students in putting together a portfolio for application to art school or similar course of study but does not guarantee acceptance into any art school degree programme.
