Meet Jenny Brownrigg, the GSA’s Exhibitions Director for a gallery tour of the School's two Glasgow International exhibitions: Light Becomes Silence by Christina McBride, and Hold Fast, Stand Sure, I scream a revolution by Serena Korda.

Light Becomes Silence is a solo exhibition of colour and black and white photographic works by McBride with accompanying new bookwork, Bound. Bound charts a journey through Patagonia by McBride and Mexican writer Roberto Bravo. Christina McBride teaches part-time on the Fine Art Photography and MFA programmes and is part of the GSA’s Reading Landscape research group.

Hold Fast, Stand Sure, I scream a revolution is a solo exhibition that has been developed in partnership with Comar, Isle of Mull and is part of Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art's supported programme. Korda has produced a new sound sculpture for the Reid Gallery that combines her interest in primitive impulses, invented tradition and our skewed relationship to nature. She takes the mushroom as a starting point as an entry to another world, creating porcelain mushroom bells to be played by an army of ‘agitators’ gathered from Garnethill and Mull. Following its premiere at GSA, the exhibition will be shown in Comar, Mull, from 3 June – 30 July 2016.

This event is part of GSA Research Week 2016. Running from 18th - 22nd April, the week comprises a range of talks and events showcasing research and researchers at The Glasgow School of Art - all welcome.
