Reading Landscape is one of GSA’s research groups. The Reading Landscape Research Group is attached to the School of Fine Art. The themes the work of the group engages with includes: People and Place; Landscape and Embodiment; Landscape, History and Transformation; Wild spaces; Mapping; Journeying as Fieldwork and Contentious Landscapes. This session will introduce the aims of the group and will focus on the individual work of two of the members – Nicky Bird and Michael Mersinis. Nicky will talk about her recent project Travelling The Archive with Atlas Arts and Kyleakin Local History Society on Skye. Michael will talk about the particularities of a nomadic practice in remote places and the challenges in photographing the unfolding event of places.
