The Prinzhorn Collection is famous for its archive of more than 5,000 drawings, paintings, sculptures and textile works, by men and women who were patients in predominantly German psychiatric asylums, between 1850 and 1930. The newer part of the collection, which brings visitors up to the present day, consists of more than 12,000 works. This lecture will give some of the history of the Collection along with information about the museum's current activities.

Dr. Thomas Röske became Director of the Prinzhorn Collection Museum in 2002. Before that, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art History at Frankfurt University for seven years.

This event was programmed in collaboration with Goethe-Institut, Glasgow, as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival.

Hosted by The School of Fine Art, The Friday Event Lecture Series is The Glasgow School of Art's flagship public lecture series, and brings major international speakers (including artists, architects, designers, historians and cultural theorists) to the city of Glasgow.
