Applying for GSA Accommodation >

WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?

  • The deadline for applications for September arrivals is May 31st
  • We recommend that you submit your Student Accommodation application as soon as possible
  • Any application received after the deadline will be considered, subject to accommodation availability

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applicants should note that the demand for accommodation outweighs the number of rooms available in our student halls of residence. For this reason we require to prioritise applications and allocate accommodation based on the following criteria:

IMMEDIATE PRIORITY IS GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO:

  • Have accepted an offer of full-time study at GSA
  • Have no previous experience of living independently
  • Have a recognised and declared disability or special need which will impact on accommodation requirements
  • Live outwith daily travelling distance

Applicants should note that the accommodation is not offered on a first come first serve basis and fulfilling one or more of the above criteria does not guarantee an offer of accommodation.  The sooner you apply and we receive your form and if later we can offer housing, the date we received your form will be taken into consideration when allocations are being done.  In short this means that forms received sooner are more likely to be offered first preferences.

Applicants who are not offered residential student accommodation will be assisted by the Student Welfare Department to help find suitable student accommodation in the private sector.

WHAT IF I RECEIVE A 'CONDITIONAL' OFFER OF STUDY AT GSA?

Applications are invited from students who have received an 'Unconditional' or 'Conditional' offer of study at the Glasgow School of Art. If you apply with a 'Conditional' offer, your application will be processed using the priority criteria detailed above. This system ensures that all applicants have an equal opportunity. If we can offer you housing you will be sent a letter of comfort to confirm that housing has been reserved for you. Later, when your offer becomes unconditional you will be sent a formal offer with confirmation of type and site we can offer you.

HOW DO I APPLY?

When you receive an offer of a place on a course of full-time study at GSA you will be sent information from our Student Records Department about GSA. This will include info which directs you to the halls section of the GSA website. At this site you can read all about halls and download the halls application form. Please complete and return the application form by post, or scan and email your application. Please note that faxed applications are not accepted.
