Important Meningitis Vaccine Information For New Students

Meningococcal infection can cause meningitis and septicaemia.New students who are enrolling on a programme of study at The Glasgow School of Art and who come from outside of Scotland, are required to have the Meningitis ACWY vaccine prior to coming to Scotland.  This vaccine protects against the most common strains of the disease.

If you are a new student who is unable to have the vaccine prior to coming to Scotland, it is important that you are vaccinated as soon as possible upon your arrival in the UK.  Information about the vaccine and how to make an appointment to get the vaccine is available at Woodside Health Centre https://www.drleslieandpartners.com/students/

GSA students arriving in Glasgow can be vaccinated prior to enrolment, but must first be registered with Woodside Health Centre.  There is no charge for this vaccine.

There is no requirement for Scottish students who have received the meningitis vaccine at High School to have a second meningitis vaccine when starting Higher Education.

All GSA students are encouraged to register with a doctor once they have enrolled and a representative from Woodside Health Centre will be available at GSA during enrolment week.  Online registration is also available to GSA students here.
