Kimberley O’Neill

Kimberley O’Neill is a lecturer in Communication Design.

O’Neill graduated from The Glasgow School of Art in 2005 and went on to complete an MA in Communication Art & Design at Royal College of Art, London in 2007.

A practicing artist and filmmaker O’Neill works across a variety of media including moving image, drawing, sound and performance. Her practice-based research has explored unorthodox forms of communication, considering how thoughts are exchanged through tacit methods, physical actions and interactions with media technologies. Identifying moving image as a vernacular language that can simultaneously depict and shape self-identity, O’Neill’s work regards moving image as a means of articulating subjectivity, whilst also considering how media forms can implicitly reiterate ideologies.
Her moving image practice spans both experimental and documentary filmmaking.

O’Neill has recently been involved in a number of collaborations and showed collaborative performances with artists France Lise McGurn and Cara Tolmie, at South London Gallery, 2015 and Tramway, Glasgow 2014.
