Chris Morgan

Chris is a part-time (0.5FTE) Lecturer & Researcher with MEARU, and is a Director at Glasgow-based John Gilbert Architects the rest of the working week.

Chris is a registered and RIAS chartered Architect with first class degrees from Newcastle University and further qualifications in Building Biology (Buildings and Health) and Permaculture. He was one of the first Architects in Scotland to be certified in Passivhaus design at Strathclyde University in 2009 and has designed and delivered one of Scotland’s first passivhaus projects in Fife.

Before joining JGA, Chris ran his own practice, Locate Architects for just over ten years working on a range of projects from larger scale infrastructure planning through bespoke Architecture to research and consultancy. Before Locate Chris worked for Gaia Architects and was the Job Architect for a number of major projects including the Glen Coe Visitor Facilities for the National Trust for Scotland.

Within MEARU, Chris runs the Stage 5 AT (Architectural Technology) component and teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. spending his research time engaged with Building Performance Evaluation of a number of recent low energy buildings around Scotland.
