Programme Overview

This course will focus on the concept of abstraction and the processing of ideas for abstract painting. Through explorative drawing you will develop ideas to work from, using memory and imagination as well as elements of representation as sources for paintings. You will be exploring the two-dimensional surface, investigating the relationship between colour and form, experimenting with layering, texture and mark-making, together with the actual process of applying paint using a range of painting tools as well as various methods of creating new compositions. This course is aimed at students who are interested in extending their visual language and developing new approaches to their work.
