The Personal Remains Political: a practice-based inquiry into the intersection of the personal and political in contemporary feminist art practice informed by archival investigation and participatory action research

Primary Supervisor:Susannah Thompson
Co-Supervisor: Adele Patrick

This practice-led research project uses my print-based art practice as a research method to explore the contemporary relevance of the intersection of the personal and political within feminist discourse. Artworks will be made using material collected and generated by; participatory action research, influenced by consciousness-raising developed in the 1960s by second wave feminists, to access contemporary personal and intimate insights of women’s lives, alongside archival and contemporary campaigning material contextualising these within today’s political landscape.

The project will look at material from the 1960s to the present, primarily from British and North American perspectives.
