Programme Overview

Explore your personal creative ideas in clay using a range of hand building techniques to develop your practical skills and expand your knowledge of ceramic materials. Participants will be able to further their understanding of how to apply colour to the surface of clay, combining glazes, slips and oxides as well as learning how to print onto clay. Alongside traditional handbuilding techniques such as slab building, coiling or pinching, the idea of creating multiples will also be explored through two-part mould making. All techniques will be taught with the aim of supporting your own ideas and investigations, helping you to develop them into finished pieces. This course is suitable for people who already have some clay making experience.
