Programme Overview

In this introductory course students will be involved in a thorough exploration of the practice of oil paint. Students will learn about stretching canvas, preparing a surface, how to apply oil paint and brush selection. You will learn about colour, compositional techniques, drawing with paint and how to represent light working from observation, memory and imagination.

You will learn about the nature and use of materials, tone, composition and colour through a series of progressive exercises.

Suitable for beginners and those with previous painting experience wanting to explore oil paint for the first time.
