Programme Overview

This course will show you how to model a clay head while working directly from the life model. Considering the qualities and form and exploring ways to convey mass and proportions, you will develop an understanding of how to accurately render the human head three dimensionally. You will learn how to use the tools required for figurative sculpture and receive instruction both as a group and individually, covering surface treatment techniques, painting and finishing, as well as guidance on firing. This class is suitable for a wide variety of students, from beginner to more experienced sculptors. Each student may select one piece each term to be fired. Materials are included in the cost of this course.
