Studio Provision
For PhD study, studio space is not provided by default. Students can make a case in their application for a project space at specific points in their research, which will be considered in negotiation with local departments and Estates.

Applying for Doctoral Study

1 x Completed Application Form (please refer to checklist on application form)

1 x Completed Research Proposal form (download below)

2 x ACADEMIC references (word count 500 max per reference)


ENGLISH LANGUAGE QUALIFICATION (IF APPLICABLE).  International applicants will normally be expected to provide evidence of attainment equivalent to IELTS for UKVI (Academic) at 6.0 overall (with no less than 5.5 in each component) from a UKVI approved test centre. a full list of UKVI approved test centres can be found here. If the language of instruction at the applicants last university is English, international applicants will not need to provide this qualification. 

Portfolio in ppt. or jpg. format OR A 3000 WORD WRITING SAMPLE IF YOUR PROPOSAL IS FOR A THESIS-ONLY SUBMISSION (see 'Submission of Digital Portfolios' below for guidelines)

Applications must be sent in to Registry by email by the deadline: 27 September 2017 to or by post (Registry, The Glasgow School of Art, Reid Building, 164 Renfrew Street, Glasgow, G3 6RF). PLEASE NOTE: Incomplete applications cannot be considered.  Please also be advised that ZIP files cannot be submitted for consideration.
