Learning and teaching in Communication Design and Interior Design encourages self-motivation and sustained independent learning. Studio-based, we employ a variety of methods including lectures, seminars, talks, presentations and group discussions, individual or group tutorials, projects, practical workshops and critical reviews.

Every student studying in Singapore will also have the opportunity to spend 4 weeks in Scotland at the GSA, working directly with their counterparts in the same programmes based in Glasgow.

The majority of graduates work in the UK – a global centre for
interior design – either for major companies including BKD,
Brinkworth, Fitch, Foster and Partners, Graven, Gensler, Imagination,
Landor Associates and Universal Design Studio, or in independent,
self-founded studios such as NOMAD. A significant percentage work
overseas, in Australia, China, France, Italy, Ireland, Japan, The

Programme Overview

The Glasgow School of Art Singapore
(GSofA Singapore)

From September 2012, the GSA is delivering years 3 and 4 of its Bachelor of Art (Hons) Programmes in Communication Design and Interior Design in Singapore, in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP).  The programmes enable Diploma students from one of Singapore's Polytechnics to 'top-up' their Diploma to a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree.

Students studying in Singapore benefit from not only the same programme of study and award as in the home institution, and resources and equipment according to GSA specifications, but also access to the additional specialist resources, equipment and workshops of TP.

Every student studying in Singapore will also have the opportunity to spend 4 weeks in Scotland at the GSA, working directly with their counterparts in the same programmes based in Glasgow. This extra credit-bearing component will provide a chance to see the graduation exhibition, experience the history of Glasgow and the GSA, of the local cultural and industrial context, and location-specific projects drawing on all of these.

Programmes

Our two degree programmes are 'top-up' programmes, enabling the upgrading of Diplomas from one of Singapore's Polytechnics to either:

BA (Hons) Communication Design; or

BA (Hons) Interior Design

Years 3 and 4 in Singapore are equivalent to years 3 and 4 of the same programmes at Glasgow, SCQF level 10, 240 credits (plus additional 10 credits for overseas immersion programme, in Glasgow between yrs 3 and 4)

Students will graduate with the exact same award as students based at the Glasgow campuses; the degree parchment will be 'campus blind' (contain no mention of the physical location of study.) All programmes will be located within the TP campus.

Information

Details on each programme of study, entry requirements, fees and how to apply, can be found on the SIT website
