Programme Overview

Life drawing and painting courses have always been a core part of the Continuing Education programme.  While incorporating  a variety of mediums and techniques the following courses keep working from the figure as a crucial part of any drawing and painting practice, whether for the beginner or the more experienced artist.

Evening Courses

Twilight Life Drawing

To make the most of your evenings, this Twilight Course allows you to attend class straight from work, school or college. Working directly from the life model, the course will introduce you to a variety of materials, techniques and drawing approaches and aims to challenge and develop your drawing and observational skills.

Twilight Life Drawing for 5th & 6th Years

Our Twilight Life Drawing course specifically run for 5th & 6th year pupils.

Life Drawing

You will work directly from the life model, with your tutor on hand to provide one-to-one guidance. This course will equip you with the technical and perceptual skills to competently render the human form and is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.

Portrait Painting in Oils

Through an exploration of the human portrait, this course is designed to encourage students to question their understanding of what they think they see when viewing the subject.

Advancing Figure Drawing

This course aims to harness and extend the skills required to progress beyond basic figure construction. Although the favoured media will be charcoal and chalk, demonstrations of technique with more diverse media will support the student's hand to encourage a fluid and intuitive approach.

Life Drawing & Painting Workshop

Initially focusing on investigative and analytical studies and progressing to more expressive approaches, this course is an in depth exploration of figure drawing and painting.

Portrait Drawing & Painting

Working directly from the model, the basis of this study will be founded in drawing. You will go on to examine the relationship between colour and form, painting and compositional techniques and work with a range of media.

Foundation for Life Painting

This course will provide you with a thorough understanding of figure drawing with an introduction to the underlying anatomy that will lead into painting the human form.

Day Courses
