Study Abroad students should ensure their application is
submitted in time for the official deadline: 1 April for Fall start
dates and 15 October for January start.
Please note 15 October deadline may NOT be used for EXCHANGE
Applications will continue to be reviewed after the deadline,
but as space is limited on many programmes, we recommend you submit
your application prior to the above dates. All applications will be
considered as a group, so January start applications will only be
looked at after 15 October deadline.
The Glasgow School of Art welcomes applications from students
studying at one of our recognised partner institutions. There is
only one deadline for incoming Exchange students: 1 May. We are
unable to accept applications for exchange after this date due to
high volume. Exchange applications are accepted for Term 1 or Term
2 only in the Schools of Fine Art & Design, except for the
Master of European Design Programme. In the Mackintosh School of
Architecture we accept applications for Full Year or Semester 1. On
our Digital Culture programme students can apply for Term 1

All Visiting Students should apply on our Study Abroad &
Exchange Application Form. All students should indicate if they are
applying as "Study Abroad" or "Exchange" students and adhere to the
required deadlines. Exchange students will have to select their
home institution from the drop down list in order to be

After completing the online application
After you've filled in the form online and pressed "submit" you
will need to print it out and have your Exchange or Study Abroad
Office sign it. In some institutions you will also need to have
your academic co-ordinator sign it.
Once it is signed you should check with your Exchange/Study
Abroad Office to see how they want you to send us your application
- some institutions (like GSA) will have an internal selection
process prior to nominating you for Study Abroad/Exchange, and we
like to receive only nominated applications. Your application
should also contain
- a portfolio of your work - 15-20 images usually on a CD - or
you can send us a url where we can access your portfolio,
- two references from your home school and
- a personal statement outlining your artistic interests and how
you feel these will be met at GSA.
Please note that we CAN NOT accept portfolios as email
attachments, and we will not send your portfolio for review if you
send it like this.
The application form will also provide you with a link to our
accommodation application form - we can not always provide
accommodation - and if you will need additional support to study at
the GSA there will be an opportunity to discuss your needs with our
Student Support service.
