Programme Overview

This course is based at our Highlands and Islands Campus in Forres. The course is non-residential (acccommodation is not included in the cost).

This stone carving workshop lead by artist Michelle de Bruin is a fantastic opportunity to develop sculptural techniques and traditional stone carving skills. During the workshop we will be familiarising ourselves with a variety of stone cutting hand tools, practicing drawing and design for stone and then creating sculptures in sandstone. There will also be opportunity to explore letter cutting techniques. All levels of skill and experience are welcome. Michelle’s experience teaching and highly regarded personal practice mean she is perfectly placed to introduce the joy of carving stone and to help you develop the skills and techniques that will take your practice further.

Personal protective equipment will be provided however participants should wear old clothes and expect to get a little dusty!
