Programme Overview

This course covers the techniques of cutting glass, painting, fusing and slumping. You will experiment with different types of glass to learn about the compatibilities of the materials and will also explore the effects of variable kiln temperatures and firings. During the weekend you will have the opportunity to work with vitreous paints, frits, stringers, powders and a selection of glasses (eg. Bullseye, dichroic, iridescent, textured). Design and colour will form an important part of the studio work alongside technical studies. You will produce work ranging from fused pieces of jewellery to small slumped forms.
