Ian Alexander (Architecture)

Ian Alexander is a graduate of the Mackintosh School of Architecture, and has worked in private architecture practice for 20 years; 10 of which as senior architect for Elder + Cannon Architects, where he designed award winning housing in the Gorbals and the innovative new St Aloysius Primary School.

Forming McKeown Alexander with Henry McKeown, the practice developed national and international innovative housing solutions winning RIBA, Saltire, GIA awards and a Mies van der Rohe nomination. He has worked for JM Architects for four years, developing the design of East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire schools. JM Architects also recently worked with Steven Holl Architects, New York on The Glasgow School of Art's Reid Building.

Ian is a part time lecturer at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and has taught in the UK, Denmark, Ireland and France. He also writes for the Architects’ Journal.
