Christine Borland (Environmental Art, 1987)

Christine Borland was born in 1965 in Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland. She lives and works in Glasgow.

Borland attended the University of Ulster and The Glasgow School of Art where she graduated in 1987 (Environmental Art). She is associated with the Young British Artists (YBAs) movement of the 1990s. While being still a practising artist she also teaches art, currently as a BALTIC Northumbria University Professor and as a visiting lecturer at the GSA.

Christine Borland works with forensic science and medicine ranging between art, ethics and bio-politics. In 1997, she was a nominee for the all women Turner Prize and in 2004 she was one of five artists awarded the Glenfiddich Artist in Residence programme.
