James Houston (Visual Communication 2008)

James Houston is a Glasgow-based Director, Animator and Graphic Designer, who graduated from The Glasgow School of Art's Visual Communication programme (now Communication Design) in 2008. Houston won both the Newbery Medal for best student overall, and the Bram Stoker award, and went on to win Best New Blood at the D&AD Awards. His Degree Show work 'Big Ideas (don't get any)' - a remake of Radiohead's track 'Nude' using obsolete computer equipment - became an internet hit, gaining wide-spread media coverage and well over 1 million views on Youtube and Vimeo.

Since graduation, Houston has produced video work for Channel Four's Random Acts, Converse, and The Comedy Unit, and has made music videos for Washington Irving and Official Secrets Act, among others.
