The GSA has a number of opportunities for commercial
sponsorship, the main events being the Degree Show held in June
each year and the Department of Textiles Fashion Show and
Promenade.
Support for our on-going contemporary exhibitions programme
which attracts over 20,000 visitors a year can be discussed with
the Exhibitions department. Please visit www.gsa.ac.uk/exhibitions.
The School has been delighted to work with a range of sponsors
to deliver a range of events and projects across the GSA and in the
community.
Degree Show
Our biggest annual event is the GSA Degree Show each June. The
Headline Sponsor of the 2012 Show was SPIE in association with Arts & Business
and the Scottish Government. The Master of Fine Art Degree Show
2011 was sponsored by Burness LLP. We are grateful for the
continued support and involvement of: the Macfarlane Group and d8,
amongst others, for their support and involvement. More information
is available at the Degree Show website.
Sponsors of previous Shows include Riverside Inverclyde,
Elphinstone, Magners and DLA Piper and the School is always
interested in building relationships with new organisations in the
future.
Fashion Shows
Both the Undergraduate Fashion Show and the Postgraduate
Promenade were supported by Buchanan Galleries(www.buchanangalleries.co.uk)
2009 - 2012 with supporting sponsors including Tunnocks, Linton
Direct, Mandors among many others.
Mackintosh Centenary
In 2009 we celebrated the Centenary of the completion of the
Mackintosh Building supported by Anderson Strathearn which allowed
us to host a number of celebratory throughout the year. This
included the Centenary Exhibition in collaboration with Delloite,
and the Living Archive website with Dog Digital. Please visit our dedicated Centenary Website for details and more
information.
A number of benefits are available to sponsors of The Glasgow
School of Art for any project that requires support. If you are
interested in learning more, please contact Sarah Smith,
Development Officer on +44(0) 141 566 1447 or sl.smith@gsa.ac.uk
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The School is also interested in working with companies in the
area of corporate social responsibility where the sponsor can
support the GSA's widening participation strategy.
Throughout 2010, Riverside Inverclyde worked with The Glasgow
School of Art to offer a year of philosophy and art classes to
school children as part of the Thinking & Creating in
Inverclyde Schools project. This was an innovative project
encouraging children in Primary 7 to develop their creative skills
and ability to discuss complex ideas. It was launched by Michael
Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning and
has been nominated for a 2011 Arts & Business Community Award
with support from the local schools and Inverclyde Council.
Morisons
Solicitors (previously Maxwell MacLaurin) have been
sponsoring our Portfolio Coaching in the Community project since
2008 working with individuals around the West of Scotland to create
and build their portfolios for application to further and higher
education. Access to GSA expertise and skills coaching is
invaluable in increasing chances of a successful application. This
project received a Commendation from Arts & Business Scotland
in the 2009 New or Returning Sponsor category, and was shortlisted
in the Times Higher Education 2010 Widening Participation
Initiative of the Year category.
Each sponsorship programme is unique and developed in discussion
with sponsors to ensure their corporate and marketing objectives
are met.
GIFT IN KIND
50-metre rolls of bubble wrap? Metres of polyethylene foam?
Packaging tape? Just some of the gifts in kind received by the GSA

Packaging, helped to wrap the Mackintosh Building to prevent
any potential damage from students as they installed their degree
show work.
Gifts in kind play a vital role in cutting the GSA's expenses
and enrich our students' educational experience. A wide variety of
