As a Glaswegian born and bred, Mackintosh experienced the heyday of industrial Glasgow – I always feel the Library is an amazing example of Mackintosh’s commitment to progress whilst communicating his huge regard for the beauty and structure found in nature. Mackintosh created a modern masterpiece that disguises its ingenuity with a total design aesthetic made possible by Glasgow's wealth of skilled craftsmen.
