Born in East Germany Tilo initially studied Civil Engineering at the Technical University Dresden for 3 years before embarking and completing a Diploma in Architecture in 2000. Prior to, and after achieving his Master of Architecture (dist.) in 2003 at the Mackintosh School of Architecture/Glasgow, he spent several years working for renowned architects in Germany and the UK on a wide variety of building projects and scales.
Since joining the Mackintosh School of Architecture in 2005 he has facilitated the learning of students of 1st - 4th Year and the Master of Urban Building. During this time he also completed Postgraduate Studies in Learning and Teaching Art and Design at the University of the Arts/London as well as studied Fundamentals of Psychology at the University of Glasgow.
Tilo currently leads the 3rd Year Architecture programme, teaches in the Design Studio and the Structural Design course as well as supervises 4th year research projects. Besides his academic commitments at MSA he is a visiting critic at other European Schools of Architecture.
