Event info

People and ArchitectureThree talks/ One talk with Paloma Strelitz (Assemble), Lee Ivett (Baxendale) and Nick Walker (Collective Architecture)

Paloma works with ASSEMBLE, ‘a design & architecture collective based in London. At the heart of Assemble’s working practice is a belief in the importance of addressing the typical disconnection between the public and the process by which spaces are made. Assemble champion a working practice that is interdependent and collaborative, seeking to actively involve the public as both participant and accomplice in the on-going realization of the work.

Lee isBAXENDALE. As such, he has worked collaboratively with a range of artists, makers, dancers, choregraphers, growers, academics and musicians to create work within the home, the public realm, the theatre and the gallery in places as diverse as Los Angeles, Preston, Nuremburg and Glasgow. He engages collaboratively across a range of creative disciplines to produce work that seeks to engage and inspire people and communities in a manner that is inherently sustainable.

Nick works with COLLECTIVE ARCHITECTURE, a firm ‘established to pursue themes of participation and sustainability in architecture. These consider both physical and emotional needs to transform places for the people who inhabit them. Our output is highly varied, ranging from intimate community installations to large scale urban regeneration. Over the past 15 years we have successfully delivered a series of important projects spread across the UK.
