Construction and Destruction:
Remembering Clyde Shipbuilders 1914 – 1918

30 May - 31 July 2015
Scottish Maritime Museum

Students of The Glasgow School of Art immersed themselves in the life of Clyde shipbuilders at the Scottish Maritime Museum in Ayrshire to produce this stunning and moving exhibition commemorating their vital contribution to World War I.

Exploring the Museum’s nationally significant collection of historic vessels and artefacts and listening to the stories told by Museum volunteers who worked in shipbuilding and engineering, the BA Honours Painting and Printmaking students worked with contemporary artist Marion Smith RSA to bring the history of Clyde shipbuilders and their families to light for a new generation.

The creative art project is a collaboration led by the Scottish Maritime Museum in partnership with The Glasgow School of Art and the Royal Scottish Academy of Art & Architecture.

Entry to the exhibition is included in the Museum Admission - Adults £7.50, Concessions £5.50. Children go free (up to 3 children per each paying adult).
