Event info

Cultures of Independence is a series of discussion events on the role and position of culture within the existing debate on Scottish independence, and in the aftermath, whatever the outcome. Led by Dr Ken Neil (The Glasgow School of Art) and Dr Gerry Hassan (University of the West of Scotland) the events will hear from a wide range of voices: artists, journalists, activists, academics, writers, educators and more. The series will draw upon insight and opinion from a diversity of sectors in Scotland, and will be informed by insight and opinion from other European countries.

The next events are on February 21st (at the GSA) and April 4th (venue tbc). The Feb 21st session will feature contributions from: Steve Richards, chief political columnist for the Independent; Lesley Riddoch, award winning author, journalist and political commentator; Alex Massie, journalist, political commentator and blogger for the Spectator; and, Dr Trish Reid, academic specialist in identity construction and performance studies.

Places are limited and can be booked through Eventbrite
