Fire Fighter Fright Night

Event info

After the devastating fire at the Mackintosh Building at The Glasgow School of Art, a group of people got together to organise an evening of fabulous music and dance for to benefit Firefighters Charity. It will say thank you for the work and bravery of the crews from across the city of Glasgow who attended on that day.

The group includes Adrian Smith, an Ex Retained Firefighter from the old Highland and Island Brigade and salsa dancer, Shannon Sheills a formidable Glasgow based businesswoman, salsa dancer and salsa teacher and Pauline McNiell Ex MSP for Glasgow Govan, salsa dancer and singer. They asked the salsa community and others to come together to give their time and talents to raise money for the Firefighters Charity and they have exceeding all of our expectations.

Musically the evening is diverse; we open downstairs in the Vic Bar with MC4, an acoustic cover band headed on lead vocals by Pauline McNeill.

They are closely followed by Tom McGuire and the Brassholes, who continue to play on Buchannan Street, and around the City of Glasgow, they are definitely a band on the up, with a superb repertoire of blues, jazz and funk.  The rest of the evening will be filled until our midnight close with classic sixties hits from our DJs.

At 7pm we open the second floor with the very best salsa DJs in Scotland and beyond, before our headline act takes to the stage.  Lino G Rocha is an internationally renowned singer, who has played around the world with some of the finest salsa artistes, including Salsa Celtica, Son al Son and others.

TICKETS: Can be purchased from TicketsScotlandAcademia De SalsaBarca Tapas on Thursdays and at the Sunday Socials at The Garage Glasgow, Salsa4Water (from Samira Scheenstra and Myria Christophini), Tumbao (Arta on Thursdays, Boteco on Wednesdays). Aberdeen dancers contact Elena Mayorga for tickets.
