CARE

Adam Walker and Ilona Sagar

Adam Walker and Ilona Sagar will present a performative reading of a recently co-authored text addressing their shared research interests in care. Showing recent work, they will expand on key areas in and through which care is vital, and too often lacking: bodies, abstraction, text, infrastructures and reflexivity.

Ilona Sagar works with a diverse range of media spanning moving-image, text, performance and assemblage. Sagar is the Stanley Picker Fine Art Fellow 2021 and is the Saastamoinen Foundation, Helsinki, Artist in Residence 2022, recent publications include, CARE(LESS), (London: MA Bibliothèque, 2021) and she won the Research in Film Award at BAFTA HQ 2018. Forthcoming commissions include ‘The Radio Ballads’ Serpentine Gallery, one of four new commissions with Sonia Boyce, Helen Cammock and Rory Pilgrim (2022), and a solo commission with Firstsite Gallery, Colchester (2022/23).

Adam Walker’s research-based practice focuses on critiques of structures of inequality, and speculative profferings of other ways of being. His work takes textual, performative, collaborative and digital forms. Recent projects, performances and exhibitions have taken place at and with the Serpentine Gallery and Tyneside Cinema (UK), Izolyatsia and Yermilov Centre (Ukraine), and online at www.skelf.org.uk. He has a PhD from the Royal College of Art.
