Friday Event: Zandra Yeaman
Friday 28 October, 13:30-15:00
Reid Lecture Theatre, Reid Building
Zandra Yeaman is Curator of Discomfort at Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow. Over the past two years the Curating Discomfort project challenged traditional museum authority and explored the interpretation of contested collections. Curating Discomfort designed and delivered a series of museum interventions that took the museum out of the institutional comfort zone.
As an anti-racist activist, Zandra works with museums to gain an understanding of current social systems and how they are influenced by the legacy of empire. Their current project titled Power in This Place: Unfinished Conversations, includes Zanele Muholi’s off-site exhibition at University of Glasgow which is part of Belfast Photo Festival.
This Friday Event is in partnership with Hunterian Museum, Street Level Photoworks and GSA Exhibitions.
