Dr Debbie Lewer is a senior Lecturer in History of Art, School of Culture and Creative Arts, University of Glasgow. Her current research interests lie in the field of the German-speaking avant-garde of the period ca. 1910-1933. Her work covers many aspects of Zurich Dada, Dada in Germany, Expressionism, ‘Neue Sachlichkeit’ and the wider literary and visual culture of the Weimar Republic. The focus of her research and teaching is on the relationship between art and politics. Most recently, she has been developing her interest in the left-wing avant-garde’s engagement with German history during the First World War and inter-war period.'
