'Excess & Restraint: Paint in an Expanded Field'

Neal Rock is Welsh artist living and working between Los Angeles and London.

He graduated with an MA in Fine Art from Central St Martins School of Art &

Design in 2000 and has gone on to exhibit extensively in the US and UK over

the last decade, at venues such as the Royal Academy of Arts London,

Albright Knox Buffalo NY, Museum of Contemporary Arts Houston and Jerwood

Space London. Rock addresses his work through recent and historical  frames

of painting with specific focus on genealogies of abstraction that have

dealt with gesture, process and subjectivity. He is currently undertaking a

Practice-led PhD in the department of Painting at the Royal College of Art,

London.
