Introduction to Art School Day Talks

The following talks are running as part of Introduction to Art School Day. A full programme for the day is available here

Introduction to GSA
This talk presents an overview of the subjects and programmes available to study at the GSA through an introduction and exploration of teaching and learning at art school.

Parents/Carers Session
We recognise the important part that parents and carers play in supporting our students during their time at The Glasgow School of Art. This informal question and answer session, hosted by GSA Widening Participation Manager Suzanne Kay, will give you the opportunity to ask questions about life at art school and living in Glasgow that you want to ask, but aren't sure who they should be directed to.

How to Prepare Your Portfolio
Let us walk you through the art school application process. Applicants to GSA send us a digital portfolio along with a 500 word supporting statement. This presentation covers;

  • What to include in your portfolio
  • How to best present your work
  • What to talk about in your personal statement
  • How to prepare for an art school interview

Life After Art School
GSA’s Careers Adviser Lesley Black will present an overview of the creative industries. This session will include key employment data from the latest research, creative graduate experiences of the job market, the types of career options and pathways that are available, future employment trends and needs, sources of information, and advice on how to develop your own creative career. It will also highlight how the GSA Careers service supports learners to develop career skills and knowledge during their studies at The Glasgow School of Art.
