Mackintosh // Curated is a display of proposals for a showcase of artefacts by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, with exhibition design by Interior Design students from The Glasgow School of Art Singapore. The work in the exhibition was developed by students during the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) in June 2014.
From September 2012, the GSA has delivered years 3 and 4 of its Bachelor of Art (Hons) programmes in Communication Design and Interior Design in Singapore, in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). The programmes enable Diploma students from one of Singapore’s Polytechnics to progress from a Diploma to a BA (Hons) degree. Students studying in Singapore benefit from the same programme of study and award as in the home institution, along with resources and equipment according to GSA specifications.
The OIP is a chance for students from GSofA Singapore to spend 3 weeks in Scotland at the GSA, working directly with their counterparts in the same programmes based in Glasgow. The OIP brief for Interior Design students was to design a temporary exhibition in Gallery 1 of The Lighthouse - a collection of artefacts from the GSA's Charles Rennie Mackintosh archives. This exhibition is the result of the project.
