Public Lecture Series presents:
Newly appointed with a Professorship in Art and Design, Ken Neil shares some personal and professional insight into the fundaments of the Art and Design Academy. Drawing on art and design practices as well as ideas within Pragmatist thought, and with reference to contemporary debates on the status of research in art and design, the lecture sets out to ground the research of the art and design academy, as well as its approaches to learning & teaching, in a wider debate about possible contestation between knowledge and iteration, between epistemology and hermeneutics. The lecture offers up for discussion a refreshed take on a 21stC purpose for the Art and Design Academy, allowing the speaker a moment to reflect on the intrinsic motivations behind a career in art and design from student to Professor.
