The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is partnering with The Glasgow School of Art, Mackintosh Building Restoration Project to run a series of Continuing Professional Development events aimed at the trades and professions.
Drawing on the expertise required to deliver the project CPD’s will draw on the wide variety of trades and professions required to rebuild and restore the world famous building.
The first CPD evening will be on the 25th of October between 17:30 and 20:00. The event will cover:

Why stone matching is an essential part of any masonry repair
Identifying suitable quarries Implications of a failed stone match
• Repair and restoration of historic masonry
Correct detailing for masonry structures
Common causes of damage and how to eliminate them
The range of techniques for repair and restoration

These CPD’s will be provide by experts from the Stone Federation GB, British Geological Survey and National Federation Of Roofing Contractors. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about each of the subjects in the context of the fascinating Mackintosh Building Restoration.
