MONAD
A new dance work inspired by Stravinsky's Rite of Spring performed as part of 1913: Rite of Spring 100 Years On

100 years ago Stravinsky's ballet The Rite of Spring scandalised Paris, caused a riot and became one of the most influential works of the 20th century. To celebrate its centenary the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Glasgow School of Art and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra join forces to create a brand new work inspired by Stravinsky's score.

Composed, danced and lit by students from the Royal Conservatoire, with costumes and sets by GSA students, played by members of the BBC SSO and the RCS, the specially composed and choreographed piece MONAD will be premiered at Tramway on the 18th May 2013. Tickets are available from the RCS and Tramway box offices.

The performance will be complemented by a curated programme of satelitte events in venues around the city, detailed on the 1913 project website.
