Kieran Gaffney
Kieran Gaffney is principal of the practice Konishi Gaffney Architects (Edinburgh), which he founded in 2008 together with the Japanese designer Makiko Konishi. He graduated from Strathclyde University in 1993 and subsequently worked in Berlin, Tokyo, and London.
Gaffney works in three main areas: houses, arts and community projects. His practice has completed a feasibility study and design to planning stage for a new not-for-profit Kindergarten on the beach in Edinburgh.
In August 2011 we won a national architecture competition organised by the Glasgow Institute of Architects to design a "blueprint for the survival and growth of rural communities”.
Among his recent projects are the Japanese House in Portobello, Edinburgh (2009), and projects for the Fermanagh House near Enniskillen (Northern Island), and the Malmo Quay Housing in Newcastle.
