THE CLIPPERTON PROJECT
A Friday Event Lecture by Jonathan Bonfiglio

TCP Director and Expedition Leader Jonathan Bonfiglio (Gibraltar) is a writer and independent producer based in Mexico. As a writer, his most recent play, Tatchell, opened in London in 2011, having premiered in Oxford in April 2010. In May 2009, Midnight When Trumpets Cry opened at the Brighton Fringe and later at The Latchmere (Theatre 503). He is also the author Acapulco Falls (optioned for film production by Samurai Films). For the past 2 years, Jonathan has been developing The Clipperton Project. The Clipperton Project will run an extraordinary, international public engagement programme between 2012 and 2015, aiming to engage global publics with issues of social and environmental relevance through multidisciplinary collaborations and exploration.

The Clipperton Project has invited a group of 20 artists and scientists, from 8 different countries, on a 3 week journey to the  isolated French atoll  of Clipperton in March 2012.  The Clipperton Project uses artistic and scientific collaboration to increase public understanding of social issues, particularly environmental concerns. The project uses Clipperton as a springboard from which to approach challenging debates relating to issues of international relevance.
