Throughout the week our Zoom and Q&A sessions will enable you to find out more about what it is like to study at the GSA. You will hear from staff on each of our undergraduate programmes from the GSA's five specialist Schools, on the following days:
Monday 21: Simulation and Visualisation
09:30 – Welcome and Introduction to the School of Simulation and Visualisation
Join Prof. Paul Chapman as he gives an introduction and overview of the School of Simulation and Visualisation.
09:45 – Games and Virtual Reality
Visualisation and Virtual Reality has been an area of excellence for the School of Simulation and Visualisation since its formation. Games and VR is a specialist pathway of the BSc in Immersive Systems Design. Join this session to find out more on both this and the 3D Modelling pathway.
09:45 – 3D Modelling
3D Modelling is another specialist pathway of the BSc in Immersive Systems Design. Join Programme Leader Dr Sandy Louchart to find out more on this pathway and the Games & Virtual Reality pathway.
10:30 – BDes (Hons) Sound for Moving Image
BDes (Hons) Sound for the Moving Image is a two-year degree programme which has been running since 2018. This programme creates a learning environment for students to develop their contextual and technical skills in sound for the moving image. Join Programme Leader Dr Jessica Argo to find out more.

Join Dr Danny Buksh for a live demo of digital art methods used on courses delivered at the School of Simulation and Visualisation. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and see some of the skill sets which are part of the student experience.
13:00 – Portfolio Clinic
Book a 15 minutes one-to-one portfolio session with staff from the School of Simulation and Visualisation. Applicants are invited to share a small digital sample of their work for informal feedback and guidance as they prepare for submission. These sessions are aimed at those applying for 22/23 entry.
15:30 – Living on Campus

10:20 – Putting Together a Portfolio
Join Kirsty Lees for support and advice on how to put a portfolio together to support your application to MSA.
11:30 – What to Expect in Stage 1
An introduction into what to expect during your first year of architecture study from Stage 1 Leader, Kathy Li.
13:00 – Skills Workshop: For the Love of Drawing
A short introduction to the importance of drawing and sketching from award-winning architects and members of staff Sam Brown and India Czulowski of O’Donnell Brown Architects.
14:30 – Architectural Technology: Course Introduction
An introduction to architectural technology and its importance in relation to the climate crisis we are facing, with Virginia Rammou and Rosalie Menon.
15:00 – Introduction to History and Theory
Professor Florian Urban discusses the importance of History and Theory on your architectural education.
15:30 – Meet The Students

Wednesday 23: School of Fine Art
09:45 – Introduction to Fine Art
Join Admissions Coordinator and Tutor Christina McBride for an overview and introduction to undergraduate Fine Art programmes. This session will also look at the range of admissions routes into GSA and how to get your portfolio ready for submission.
10:45 – Sculpture and Environmental Art
Sculpture and Environmental Art is one of the few specialist undergraduate programmes in the UK, and the only one in Scotland, dedicated to exploring relationships between object-making, art in public and social engagement, underpinned by contemporary critical and cultural debates and conditions. Join Acting Programme Leader Dr Roddy Hunter to find out more.
11:15 – Fine Art Photography
Join Programme Leader Lesley Punton for this introduction to Fine Art Photography. The programme has an international reputation for excellence, producing successive generations of successful graduates, many of whom are now leaders in their field.
11:45 – Painting and Printmaking
Painting and Printmaking is the largest specialist programme within the School of Fine Art. The programme of study is practical and theoretical, focusing on enquiry and production in a lively studio environment. Join Head of Department Dr Zöe Mendelson to find out more.

This session will provide help and support on how to get started on your digital portfolio statement.

13:30 – Parrots, Pop-Ups & Patterns: Library Collections at GSA
Librarian and Collections Mananger Duncan Chappell takes us on a safari through some of the rare and distinctive materials available in the GSA Library: from self-destructing artists' books to beautiful Art Nouveau bookbindings and anatomical treatises. Duncan will also introduce the wider Library services and facilities available to students.
14:00 – Running Naked in the Museum: Fine Art Critical Studies (Cancelled)
James N Hutchinson is an artist who works as a lecturer in Fine Art Critical Studies (FACS) at GSA. The FACS curriculum runs parallel to studio, and is concerned with developing students’ understanding of the historical and critical contexts their work is situated within. This can be a daunting prospect for many, as it involves learning the technical language that is specific to art. In this introduction to FACS, James will talk about how the theory and practice of artmaking can inform and affect each other, and ultimately prevent the feeling that one is running naked in the museum.

Product Design Engineering brings together two cultures: the studio environment of the art school, and the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow. Join Programme Leader Prof. Craig Whittet to find out more about this programme taught across the two institutions.
13:30 – Textile Design
