Research Units >

Research at GSA is rooted in the specialist disciplines of each of our Schools - Fine Art, Design, Architecture, Innovation Design and Simulation & Visualisation. Our School-based disciplinary research is enhanced by four complementary, interdisciplinary research themes, which build on existing strengths and provide opportunities for strategic partnerships. These are:

Sustainable Environment and Economies

Cultural Landscape and Identity

History, Heritage, Archives and Collections

Health and Care.

Within these disciplines and themes, research is undertaken through a combination of individual endeavour, project-based partnerships, research groups whose members collaborate around common interests and objectives, and two more established research units within the Mackintosh School of Architecture: MEARU and the Glasgow Urban Lab.
