Dr Sarah Tripp is a Lecturer on the MFA programme, a two-year, postgraduate, multidisciplinary, studio-based course in contemporary art practice.

Sarah completed a BA in Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art in 1994 and an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art in 1996 before returning to Glasgow to practice as an artist, writer and curator, and join the committee of the Transmission Gallery. In 2016 she completed her practice-led PhD at Edinburgh University in writing character studies using a cyclical, reflective methodology.

Sarah’s artistic practice has three strands: writing fiction, devising live events and working with moving image and sound. Her works span the narrative arts and often take more than one form existing simultaneously as publication, performance, film or work for radio broadcast. The status of strangers, gestures of resistance and moods are reoccurring themes of her recent works which draw from psychoanalysis and literature.

Sarah’s pedagogical practice is concerned with the specific challenges of postgraduate education, supervision and mentorship. She is committed to working with students and artists to discover new ways of supporting artistic practice. From 2013 onwards she developed new methods of configuring and conducting tutorials and delivering writing and performance workshops.

• desktop publishing software as an editorial tool in writing practice

Forthcoming publications
She is currently developing a new work of fiction with Book Works (London) and a collaborative publication of lectures with Dr Kate Briggs (Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam) exploring forms as they appear in writing.

Curatorial practice
Alongside her artistic practice she has a long term curatorial practice. Curatorial projects include ‘Making People Up’ a live programme exploring character within the narrative arts for the Artists Moving Image Festival 2016 with LUX Scotland, Tramway (Glasgow); ‘What We Make With Words’ an exhibition, book fair and festival of independent journal publishing with the CCA (Glasgow), 2011 and ‘Making Film’ a series of screenings and discussions exploring innovative feature film practice at the CCA (Glasgow), 2009.
