How to apply
To apply, please complete an application form on the Visiting Student Application Portal.

The course features a combination of formative and summative assessments which are based on the collective work that is produced throughout the semester, both inside and outside of class time. For details of assessment, please refer to the course specification on this page.

Information on tuition fees and costs can be found here, in the section entitled 'Study Abroad'. In addition to the tuition fees, students will incur other costs whilst studying at the GSA. They are expected to provide basic supplies such as pencils, pens, sketchbooks, brushes, and paint kits. Any other core supplies will be provided by GSA to be able to complete coursework.

US students who are eligible for Financial Aid at their home institution should continue to be eligible for Financial Aid whilst undertaking a Study Abroad programme. All Financial Aid for Study Abroad students is administered through their Home institution.

Programme overview
The Studio Art Programme is a 12-week long programme which is offered twice a year: during semester 1 (September to December) and semester 2 (January to May). It provides students with the opportunity to work in a studio environment and experience our distinctive, specialist, practice based education. Students are offered a choice of studio-based Fine Art and Design courses to further their knowledge, skills and practice of two-dimensional and three-dimensional studio art at an introductory level. The classes are conducted by means of practical studio and workshop sessions, complemented by tutorials and studio discussion.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to select one class with the University of Glasgow as explained below:

Programme options
Option 1: Take 6 visual art classes delivered at The Glasgow School of Art

Option 2: Take 4 visual art classes delivered at The Glasgow School of Art + 1 class delivered at The University of Glasgow

Each visual art class is taught at beginner’s level and is worth 10 GSA credits (5 ECTS credits).

Entry requirements
The programme is aimed at students studying in 2nd or 3rd year of a four-year degree programme. Students are expected to have the following level:

Overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent

A GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in one or two first year studio art courses or have a 3+ in AP Art
