The Glasgow School of Art is pleased to announce that we are now eligible to nominate prospective PhD students for the prestigious Carnegie Trust PhD Scholarships.

Applicants must have already been offered a place on the PhD programme at GSA before they are eligible to apply (applications should be received by 26 Nov 2022 by 12 noon). Please note that applications to this fund must be submitted via Doctoral Studies at GSA – you are not permitted to apply independently and must submit your application via your host institution (GSA). Please see eligibility criteria and guidelines here:

After receiving an offer on our PhD programme, applicants interested in / eligible to apply for the scholarship should indicate their intention to apply as soon as possible and should submit the official application template (see link below) to Prof Susannah Thompson, Head of Doctoral Studies at s.thompson@gsa.ac.uk by 12 noon on Monday 9 Jan 2023.

Your application will then be reviewed by a panel of senior academic staff at GSA and a shortlist will be nominated to the Carnegie Trust. GSA can submit only two applications per annum for this scholarship.

If shortlisted, prospective students should continue to work with their proposed Primary Supervisor on the main application and the Institutional Statement of Support, which can be found here:

Both documents (the application and Institutional Statement of Support) should then be sent to the PhD Coordinator of the school to which you are applying (see here) and to Prof Susannah Thompson, Head of Doctoral Studies s.thompson@gsa.ac.uk by Monday 30 January 2023.

Your application will then be returned to you and your prospective supervisor at GSA for submission to Carnegie Trust by their external deadline (see details on their website).
